Lovejoy News

Hello and greetings. Thank you for dropping by. You might be a first time visitor or an old friend returning, but rest assured, whatever the reason for your visit you are very welcome. So come in, look around and make yourself at home...you could even drop us a line to say 'hello' if you wanted...

It's been a little while since the last update, basically we were waiting for the first rays of sunshine of the year to appear and it took somewhat longer than we anticipated for them to materialise...so anyway there are quite a few bits and pieces of Lovejoy (and Snowdrops) news to catch up on...

First of all in record release news, The Snowdrops released their five song 'Sleepydust' CDEP on Matinée just before Christmas and is just beginning to get noticed by record reviewers, who have been very nice about it so far...check out reviews on the matinee site and while you're there you can find out where to buy a copy, should you so wish. It features Richard and Keith from Lovejoy as well as Keris from Harper Lee and Pam Berry, from, well, everyone else, as someone once wrote...The snowdrops have also just completed an interview for a Swedish music magazine - we'll post details here when it's published.

In other release news, Lovejoy have a trio of new releases to mention: Firstly, the song 'Everybody Hates Us And We Don't Care' from the last Lovejoy album features on a new Australian only compilation put out by those nice friendly people at Book Club records, called 'Pop the Question' and features tracks by several other pop bands, including Boyracer, The Shermans and Honeyrider.

Following on from last year's Canadian TVPs tribute album, a Swedish label 'But Is It Art?' has released a vinyl only TVP tribute album, featuring an alternative version of Lovejoy's cover version of 'Someone To Share My Life With'. This album features other TVP covers by such illustrious artistes as the BMX Bandits, Nikki Sudden (RIP), Swell Maps etc... for details of how to get hold of a copy of this great looking and sounding album, use the link above or contact Lovejoy direct.

Also in tribute album action, Lovejoy feature on the brand new June Brides tribute, just out on 'Yesboyicecream records' with a swinging, electro pop version of 'In The Rain'. Just out, this album features diverse and well known bands such as Manic Street Preachers, Television Personalities, Tompaulin Jasmine Minks and Jeff Lewis - and sounds amazing! Again if Google doesn't help you track a copy down, contact us direct...

Lovejoy are currently putting the finishing touches to their new CDEP, which will feature four brand new recordings and should hopefully be out during the summer. Once again we've been recording with Julian Tardo at Church Road in Hove, England, with one or two guests to help us along the way. The EP will probably be titled 'England Made Me', and we'll post more details nearer to the release date....

No live news currently other than to say a big thank you and hello to all our new friends in Bergen, Norway, where Richard had a splendid few days last October at the Some Gorgeous Accident festival, special thanks to Prof Pez!! and Eirik and Kristopher of Love Dance, our new favourite band!

Okay, that's all for now - check back soon as there will be another update prior to the release of Lovejoy's new single and hopefully some news on shows for the spring / summertime!. In the meantime, adios...
