Lovejoy News

February 2005:   Hello friends! Here at Lovejoy HQ we’re all rather excited as copies of the brand new Lovejoy CD “Everybody Hates” (matcd035) have just arrived, courtesy of our label boss and friend, Jimmy Tassos of Matinée Recordings. The album was launched on the web on Valentines Day, with copies due to be sent to distributors soon after. Everybody who’s heard the album so far, without exception, has been happy to describe it as our best record yet, which is very nice of them! But why take our word for it? A quick trip to the Matinée site will lead you to some sound clips so that you can sample a flavour of the album for yourselves. Matinée also offer mail-order and a list of distributors and stockists around the globe so it should be easy to track a copy down – if you have trouble finding a copy, contact us direct at snowboundipc@yahoo.co.uk Here is how Matinée described the new album:

Third full length from popular English act Lovejoy and follow-up to the classic "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" album in 2002. Since then, Lovejoy has contributed tracks to several top indie compilations, released a 45 on fashionable UK label Unpopular Records, and played a handful of notable shows in England, Spain and Sweden. Expanding on the multilayered sound of previous releases with a refined mix of guitars, keyboards, and percussion plus irresistible melodies and exceptional harmonies, "Everybody Hates" contains nine new Lovejoy compositions including the radio friendly hits "Sid Vicious" and "Petrol Stars" plus a sparkling cover of "Drug Autumn" by Matinée label mates The Windmills. Featuring literate songs peppered with commentary on the music business, relationships, politics and pop culture, "Everybody Hates" is undoubtedly the strongest Lovejoy release yet.

So there you go! Hopefully we’ll get some early reviews up on this site soon.

In other news, there are several compilation releases in the pipeline: A June Brides tribute album, a TVPs tribute, plus a compilation from a new label based in the Philippines. Alongside this, Dick is hoping to play some more solo acoustic dates this spring and summer to celebrate the release of “Everybody Hates” – nothing is confirmed yet, however London, Denmark and Sweden are all current contenders, so look out for an update in the coming weeks.

Goodbye for now…
