Lovejoy News

Autumn 2007:   Welcome to the Lovejoy news update for autumn 2007. It's been a very difficult year so far, as many of you will know from this. Thank you to the many people around the world who emailed us messages about Keith your support and solidarity have been greatly appreciated during the last few months.

Dick is currently working on a project in Keith's memory, one that will involve raising some much needed cash for the hospice that cared for him in his final months and that will also be something that Keith would have loved. More details will be posted about this in the coming weeks.

As far as Lovejoy activity goes, we're really not very sure of what will happen next. Keith was such an integral part of Lovejoy that it is difficult to see a way forward at this point. There will be one or two further releases of songs that have already been recorded, but after that... who knows?

Anyway, Dick had the honour of playing at the Rip it Up! festival in Sweden in July - it was a flying visit with a very tight schedule. Dick appeared on the Saturday evening and the reception given to him was great, making all the time spent travelling to Saffle worthwhile! Thank you so much to The Rip it Up! team for inviting Lovejoy, including their parents who were extremely helpful! Here's a little picture of Dick playing - can you see what song he started the set with? (Thanks for the photo Martin)

There's another photo form the festival added to the gallery page here.

A few weeks before this, Dick recorded a brand new Lovejoy song, 'Astronauts' for the upcoming Matinee Recordings tenth anniversary CD, details of which can be found here. The album should be available by the beginning of October. 'Astronauts' hopefully speaks for itself regarding recent events and we look forward to receiving your reactions to it. Dick will be returning to Church Road Studio to work on some mixes of recently recorded songs over the next few weeks and more details of these will be announced shortly.

As we said back in the spring, several of our releases are now apparently available for download. Whatever that means. Anyway, there's a link to 'England Made Me' on itunes, from where you'll also be able to find 'Everybody Hates' and 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'. And some rap records by somebody else called Lovejoy.

That's all the news for the moment but there will be an update very soon with news on the above mentioned upcoming project...
